Great atmosphere in this one! It's nice how the photo only comprises two major kind of hues. Personally, I'd just cut a little off from the top, maybe 10 % of the image height. What do you think?
Many thanks for your comments and the good suggestion, Patrick. The wider format would surely give it a nice cinemascope(tm) style.
This photo could be a candidate for the critique forum. I have been thinking for a long time what exactly is a horizon in a photo? And where would it be best to locate? A big problem every time :) Cheers from sunny (again) Finland
Well, it's a good question where the horizon actually is. I suppose in this photo it is in the middle of the dark tree line.
I normally stick to the 1/3 resp. 2/3 rule, meaning the horizon is on the upper or lower third (line) of the photo (normally I have 2/3 ground and 1/3 sky). This is similar to the "golden ratio". When I post-process my photos, I normally think like that: Are there any parts in the photo which are boring or have nothing real interesting in it? Then I crop them out. In your photo I'd considered cropping from the top because the sky seems less interesting there, whereas the most interesting parts are the area around the sun and the water. However, you can never be sure until you really give it a try (I often recognized that I was totally wrong after trying something I was sure to be good)
Cheers from sunny Leipzig, too :)
Excellent, and of course i Like it!!!!!
Greetings and best wishes dear friend from Greece-Piraeus.
Thank you for the friendly comments, Nikos. I've got some old slides from the Saronic gulf sunset and they are red and golden. I think I must open the scanner one day. Take care!
All you said is very true, Patrick. I did this cropping with two things on my mind. I see the boat as the main subject of the whole scene, and so I tried to avoid placing it in the middle of the photo ( still it's almost there :)
I also decided to maintain the sky as large as possible because of that over-energetic sun. I hoped the big sky would at least partly calm down the power of the white area. Thanks for conversation
Beautiful scene and image. Liked. Many greetings. Ahmet
Thank you, Ahmet. Best regards

Very nice to hear that, Arno. Thank you for the visit and comments.
Very nice photo L+F
I'm glad you think so, Nenad. It was about 35 degrees warmer evening than it is now.
