We were traveling with a group led by an American who is an expert in the Russian Orthodox Church and has many Russian contacts. We took one of the river cruises from St. Petersburg to Moscow, and our$ group had an extra day in the cities at the beginning and end. So arrangements were made for us, and it was an easy as well as fascinating trip. I don't know how it would be for more independent travel.
That was very different from 1993, immediately after the end of the October uprising. I was traveling with my 80 year old aunt as part of a small group. The trip was cut short for the two of us on our first stop. In Moscow, on the very first night, she fell and broke a hip. With the help of a guide/interpreter, I made arrangements for us to fly to Helsinki less than two days later, so that she could have hip surgery. That Moscow experience was a nightmare!
Oh Marilyn, this is so beautiful. I was reading about your experience with your Aunt though, and I'm so sorry about that. I'm glad you were at least able to capture this wonderful shot of the Monastery. It's just gorgeous!
Superb ! Sorry to hear that from your aunt.
I believe it was for you at that time a real nightmare.
Thank you, MaryAlice and Jacques.
My husband and I made this trip in 2006 partly because I had seen nothing on that earlier trip. But our recent trip has helped me forget about the horrors of the earlier one. Greetings, Marilyn
Great new photos Marilyn! Greetings, Liviu.
Many thanks, Liviu. Greetings, Marilyn
Very nice shot Marilyn!
Thanks, Chris. Again we had a special tour by a friend of our tour leader. We were very fortunate.
I think i have almost the same pic of this place.
Greetings from Belgium
