Play Misty for me ~~

The main light source here (Just out of shot at the top in the middle) would drown everything else out and a flash would flood the scene too much ~ so I used one of those head mounted torches and gently washed the areas I wanted to pick out on a 6 second exposure

Well done Nick! The headlamp did a wonderful job matching the color of the main light source. I often carry an small handheld LED flashlight with me while out at night, since it's daylight balanced it often conflicts with available light sources.

Jethrohoyt ~ Hiya and many thanks Jethro it is a technique that can bring to life scenes that are otherwise too heavily contrasted in dark and light terms ~ Good luck with your trials when they happen and I look forward to seeing the results. All the best ~ nick

™Ken Kruse™ ~ Thanks a lot Ken I have been following your comments in the forum recently regarding astro photography and admired your Stonehenge shots in which the night skies are fantastic. I usually use this head mounted lamp to be able to view the various spirit levels on my tripod when doing night shots to ensure that all is set up as best it can be. I've also used a hand held torch in the past to achieve the same sort of results. You guys get far too technical for me so I had kept my mouth shut in the forum over this particular subject and whilst I felt my recent shots might have been of interest to you all, I felt the absence of sky made them irrelevant ~ so I'm really chuffed that you found this shot ~ all the best ~ nick

And now that I'm home from work viewing this on my new monitor I am even more impressed! I love the mood it evokes with the misty fog hanging in the air, the wet shimmering stones add another layer of detail while the handwritten "Barryann" sign gives it an even bigger personality! Nice find, well captured!

™Ken Kruse™ ~ What a coincidence as I'm just home from work too ~ although for me the biggest monitor is at work and here just my laptop :~) Thanks a lot Ken for taking the trouble to add more comments ~ I appreciate it ~ I like the nets hanging off the wall in the misty background too ~all the best ~ nick
