Shops at the colonnaded south-north street

Perge was primarily considered as founded at the end of the Trojan wars, i.e., in 1275 B.C. Evidences found in 1986 indicate that the city was established significantly earlier, even in the Early Bronze Age. Roman domination began in 188 B.C., and most of the surviving ruins date from this period.
