This must be looking down towards the airport? I lived here only for a short while after we were married and before we came to Australia but I loved it. It still had a community feeling about it.

I love your new shots. I've added you to my favourites so I don't miss any new postings. I thought I already had you on my list, sorry.

That's right. On the other side of the road you can just see the entrance to Havannah Country Park (site of the old drift mine). Luckily I have missed the house just to the left that the numpty has painted completely in black and white stripes!

Thanks for adding me to your list!

Hello there, I was interested to see your photos of Hazelrigg and especially Coach Lane. My father, Thomas Stell, was born in 1910 and the family address was 33 Coach Lane, Hazelrigg. I realise that their house will probably have been demolished and built up again but have you any idea where I could get hold of old photos of Hazelrigg? I live in Holland (I married a Dutchman) so it isn't easy for me to come up to the North East to do some exploring of my own. I do hope you can help me. Thanking you, Denise Wesseler nee Stell

Hi Denise. If the house was on the North side of Coach Lane, it may well be still there, as that side of the road is mainly still the original terraced pit houses. I will have a look the next time I go through Hazlerigg.

Hi Denise again. I was driving through Hazlerigg again yesterday and spotted 33 Coach Lane. It is a terraced house and looks to have been built 1910 or earlier, so it is likely that it is the same house that your father lived in. I will try and get a photo some time soon.

33 Coach Lane is on the left of THIS SHOT, in the mid-distance, at about the same spot as the first parked car.

No. 33 Coach Lane APPEARS ON THIS SHOT and I hope that Denise spots it.

Hello Skida, Yes, I have spotted 33 Coach Lane, I have sent one message apologising that I hadn't thanked you for taking this photo for me. I did ask if the white door of No. 33 was the door just behind the tree in the garden? Many thanks once again. Denise Wesseler nee Stell
