On Your Own

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

On You own... This is one of many remote places in Washington State. We spent 4 days round trip to climb Gunsight Peak. During the technical part of the climb, I thought about how difficult it would be to go out for help in this remote place if we had an accident. It was another safe journey mostly because of planning and experience.

  • This lake is at 5440 feet and the lowest of the 4 lakes stays frozen most of the year. Perhaps it is 50 percent ice before winter comes.

  • Our area gets the most snow fall in the world, This is just over 28 meters or 93 feet.
