Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

...Это кладбище. Кладбище зараженной техники. Здесь стоит все – и пожарные машины, и рейсовые автобусы, и обкомовско-райкомовские «Волги», и обычные «Жигуленки», и грузовики. А с другой стороны...

Now, that is insane. Is need really more powerful than the danger? I have been watching this place from afar (USA) ever since Kid of Speed posted the pictures and story. I expected to watch it rust away as more people came and photographed. I never expected that it would be dismantled and carted away....perhaps the weather, rain and snow have somewhat cleansed the exposed metals?

Sure. But these are the most fire-engines, which first arrived at the place where the accident occurred. They are the most radioactive. These now banned closely approached.

Looking at the series of photos from the area it appears these have been missing their parts for some time. The helicopters being dismantled, obviously recently is, somewhat alarming. Perhaps since they can not bury it they plan on storing it inside the new containment structure with all the other broken bits of the reactor and are breaking it into smaller pieces for easier storage and management?

  • No. What you see in the photos - this is the burial site. Cemetery radioactive equipment. It will not be transported anywhere. And will not be cut. This is dangerous. A new shelter, no one is building - no money. The old shelter has severely deteriorated. Of course, the big crash will not, but there is a problem.
    • The main problem is that Ukraine can not finance projects for the cleaning of the territory. But EU and U.S. have been reluctant to help. Russia did not help. And the clock is ticking...

"A new shelter, no one is building - no money." We can throw billions at a non-problem like Global Warming, this is sad.

It is true :-(

А это для другого сайта фотки были предназначены, а там такие требования были. Исходники же перелопачивать по новой лень :-)

Hey friend,

I notice in the latest Google map images the vehicle grave yard appears to be gone. Is this true?

IPAAT on September 10, 2013

I do not know. I see all the cars on the satellite image. I doubt it somewhere removed.
