Gear in suspension

This gear wheel is enormous, at least a couple of metres across, it was made to be used on the winding gear at a Cornish Tin Mine but the down time necessary to get it onto the shaft meant that is was better to make another gear wheel in two halves and bolt the gear together around the shaft when the time came to replace the existing worn out gear.
