Thanks Tamás,

I didn't expect you to be my teacher of Turkish history and culture..but I should have realised that the Ottoman Empire did extend across your land. I would be interested to learn more from you about this topic.

Sincere best wishes,

Ian

Dear Ian ! My English knowledge unfortunately very little to the description of the history.Hungary partly, or rather in full whole between 1524-1690 belonged to the Ottoman Empire .All of the castles were demolished quasi!Very many Hungarian words, to originate from the Turkish.Always yet there is architectural national monument some in city. mausoleum, minaret-1 , minaret-2 , minaret-3 , Turkish bath , Turkish well , monument , minaret-4 . I was able to help in only little unfortunately :-( Trust in it, that you understand it my translation! Frendly greeting, Tamás

O.O

Greetings, Tamás and sincere thanks for providing the links and the information. It really had never occurred to me that there were still many Ottoman historical relics and architecture present in Hungary today. I guess I have never thought about it, though many times I have seen the Ottoman Empire coloured on the maps of Europe.

Now I will continue to think about that and I am sure there will be many new discoveries for me now.

And as for the influence of language being still evident in your vocabulary, an outsider would never know, so I am privileged to learn this from you.

Appreciatively,

Ian
