This is the beach down the road from my usual vacation spot in Sheffield, OH.

Man, I'm really proud of this shot. It took me a while to find a good place to get a picture of the beach. Then, I stumbled onto these wooden steps and knew I had to get them in the shot.

Proud of it, you should be! Wow! This is outstanding! This is my favorite of yours by far! So well composed, and I love how the water just seems to blend right into the clouds. I love the little touch of green, and of course, the steps. It is all perfect! I gave it a Yellow Star! :) Cheers,

Mary Alice

Thank you, Mary Alice, for all of your compliments. You are also a very talented photographer. I love the simplicity and touching themes of your photos. As soon as I saw the horse photos, I felt an instant urge to say, "Awwwwh."

And by the way, I am in West Virginia, not Virginia. But Virginia is a great place to visit, also. :-) And I love Georgia, as well.

Thanks again.

I especially like this one of your Lake Erie photos. Though it doesn't have as much color as your pink sky picture, it has both sky interest and foreground interest. It's also well composed, with the larger mass of clouds in the upper right, and the stairs, etc., in the lower left. Very good work. You were right to search until you found those wooden steps!

Long, long ago I attended Oberlin, so I spent four years not all that far south of the lake. But students weren't allowed to have cars (not that I could have afforded one anyway!), so for all practical purposes, Lake Erie was far away! I did get there once on a geology field trip, and once on a bicycle ride when I was "in training" for a bicycle hostelling trip! I often took the train to and from my home in Illinois, and I especially enjoyed the part where the train went on a causeway and bridge (I think) farther west, near Sandusky. So thanks, too, for stirring up some memories!
