Not just 6:27 p.m. Kevin but on Monday during Hurricane (or whatever) Sandy!

You can see the wind had gone back westerly and is blowing the tops off the waves - backwards.

Great moody shot that summed up the conditions to a treat!

Not sure if I can convey this clearly, but in spite of the fact that the sky and ocean are awesome looking, they function perfectly as context for the pier without drawing too much attention. I think it is because both the sky and the ocean share the same palette? And what a lovely palette it is.

I understand exactly what you mean, kenfowkes, and you're right that the sky and ocean have very similar textures. I simply adore this photo. I think all that near-electric blue will look awesome in ink!
