Hi Anita,
You are right about taking a lifetime to really see Britain. I had hoped to get a three-year assignment to an air base there before returning to the US to "retire" but, it was not to be.
The air base your brother works at is probably Ramstein. If so, I have been there many times. I preferred Rhein Main near Frankfurt because there was not so large an American community. Nothing against Americans - I just prefer to be immersed in the local culture as much as possible.
The entire tour of Egypt was amazing! My son and I went into the burial chamber of the middle Pyramid at Giza and were the only two people in there. Then my wife, son and I took a four-day cruise down the Nile from Aswan to Luxor. It was a fantastic tour, an archeologist's dream!
I would love to see the Terracota Army, too. I can't imagine the magnitude of that undertaking.
I hope you do have the opportunity to visit America someday. There are still so many places we would like to see - the Grand Canyon, Carlsbad Caverns, the fall colors in New England nad many more. Better get busy!
Take care, Leo

Hi Leo, yes he has been at Ramstein for at least 25 years. He left England about 30 years ago and settled down well in Kaiserslautern.
My husband has a while to go before he retires, maybe then we will have the opportunity to travel. Thank you very much for finding the time to chat, kind regards, Anita.
