Every time I see a photo of these moths, I am blown away. This is a great one! Cheers Derek

Almost like it wanted me to take it's picture Itallica

Not as pretty as a hummingbird Derek , but easier to photograph and more numerous in the yard . They are rather friendly and unassuming little creatures !

Such a delightful image, Waldo! Those brilliant red flowers, are they called Sky Rockets? In trying to frame the elusive Sphinx, I have only managed to capture his departing streak as he disappears from view.

Thanks Nel sorry to be so late in responding !

Howdy Carlee - the flowers are Scarlet Sky Rockets / Standing Cypress / Tall red things , etc. - " Ipomopsis Rubra " if yur into that Genus Species Phylum stuff - the White Lined Sphinx Moths are easy to capture if you curtail the use of pesticides in the yard - especially the crap you pour on the ground ( the eggs / larvae live in the soil ) so ..... why do I get the feeling that nobody pays attention to Don't Spray Pesticides on yur plants and let Mother Nature restore the balance ? ...
