Must get to Rainbow beach one day Ian. Seems like its just up the road from Double Island and I've never been. One day. cheers Gary

It is a must, Gary. And perhaps you'll need a local host, guide and companion. It is a glorious part of our world.

Cheers from the Cooloola Hinterland.

Sounds like a plan Ian. Next trip north I'll come and say hi.

Wonderful series of new uploaded images Ian...liked all of them, best wishes from North Hemisphere, Macedonia, Ahmet

Ian Stehbens on November 23, 2012

It really is, Berend, and I wish you could see it all again, this time from the air as well as from the ground - and with a local guide. I hope it makes you relive your Fraser Island visit.

Very warm greetings from Australia, Ahmet. So pleased to have you share in my flights with me through Panoramio.

Sincerely, Ian

The shape of the coastline looks familiar to me, similar to some brazilian beaches!

Ian Stehbens on November 23, 2012

There is a lot in common between Brazil and Australia, Liz, and both our coasts are pretty special.

Greetings from South Queensland.

Very beautiful place and view

Ian Stehbens on November 25, 2012

Greetings Nick. Sun, sand and surf - almost endlessly, and throw in all the colours of the rainbow to colour the sands.

Sunny wishes,

Ian Stehbens on November 25, 2012

Thank you for your appreciation, JC. To walk from one end to the other is a long walk, but I hope to do the return trip one day.

Kin regards,

They're, what you call sand hills (back dunes), Ian!

YSL & Favourite Gallery.

My very best, David.

Ian Stehbens on November 26, 2012

You are a welcome guest and friend, David. I hope you enjoy both my photography and my geography. I have these dunes - this sand mass - almost in my backyard, but this was my first time to photograph them from the air.

This sweeping arc of Wide Bay has truncated each of the dunes creating the coloured sand cliffs, and revealing the cross-sectional structure of each longitudinal dune.

Warmest regards,
