The New Order basks in the sunset...

It's nice that Stan remains as, well, as remains, so that Ollie still has company in the sunsets. But it's just not quite the same...

Many Thanks David - so glad you could appreciate the Late Great Stan!

And I've found that I am hardly the only person to have had a strong attachment to this Tree Duo, and to now be mourning the demise of the taller tree in a fierce storm about 6 weeks ago.

There's a wonderful article in the Boston newspaper today which is called 'One of the most touching eulogies to vegetation I have ever read...' by one reader, and even likened to the loss of New Hampshire's Old Man of the Mountain! (OK, even I think that's stretching it a bit!)

I called them Stan and Ollie (even though they might have more accurately been nicknamed Bud and Lou.) So it's fun to read the article and find out all the other names people had for them: The Bean and the Pea, the Hotdog and the Hamburger, 'Carbon Monoxide' for looking like CO, the Glove and the Ball, the Question Mark and the Period, the Long and the Short of it.....

Stan - no matter what anyone called you, you're gonna be missed!
