Beamish is a world famous museum telling the story of the people of North East England during the Georgian, Victorian, and Edwardian periods. This shot is of a renovated house, and shows an actress in period costume cooking lemon tarts in the kitchen using the original cooking techniques

This reminds me of an "old masters" painting Stuart..The natural light from the left is most effective!

Beamish is a great place to visit..the exhibits and demos are very authentic..

Nice work Stuart :)

I include your gallery amongst my favourites,,Meant to do it ages ago!

Cheers

Thank Jim and Roman. I'm a fan of Rembrandt and Vermeer, and how they lit their subjects...and this lovely diffused window light (in their style) was perfect for this portrait! Regards Stuart

Beatriz Abella Villa… on December 3, 2012

Oh MY Goodness! how glad I am to see this shot! what a fantastic photo. Iam baking in the modern world and what an intersting sight here to see this actress dressed in period attire and doing it the way they used to. I can just see my grandmothers, and great grandmothers doing it just this way!! thanks for sharing this !! I love it! A fantastic photo, even the steam, rising from one of her dishes! nostalgia at its best!

Regards, from Georgia, USA Sarah

Many thanks Sarah for your visit and kind comments. Its rare you get the opportunity to see history in this kind of realism, and to get the opportunity to photograph it as well is the icing on the cake! regards Stuart
