I first became aware of this building in the 70s and it was empty then, too. It is unlikely ever to be refurbished as planning for an access road would not be granted because it would have to cross part of the historic Hadrian's Wall earthworks, which is an historic monument.

I have tried hard to find some history with no luck. I assume it was a small farm house with attached workshop. The sky was quite amazing: It was blue behind me and the wind was blowing in a weather front. The rain came an hour or so later.
