Autumn in Puszcza Sandomierska

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Puszcza Sandomierska is one of the biggest forests in Poland. It extends between Tarnobrzeg in the north and Rzeszów in the south. The area of Puszcza Sandomierska is characterized by appreciable naturalness and low density of population. In the stand dominate pines, beech trees, birch trees, elms and alders. The forest is mainstay of many endangered species of birds: kraska, podgorzałka, kingfisher, black grouse, sea eagle, corncrake, black stork, crane and many more (over 150 species). There are many species of amphibians, reptiles (gniewosz plamisty) or mammals. Puszcza Sandomierska is the only one place in Poland where the praying mantis appears.
