Mary River circling Lagoon Pocket, Queensland

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Dairy farming and beef cattle grazing are the principal farm activities in this pocket of the Mary River. Irrigation water is available from the river, and the alluvial terraces are easy to cultivate for fodder.

The belt of trees, left of centre, grow on the banks of a permanent lagoon which is a former section of the river channel, in geological history. It is that lagoon that gives the pocket the name, Lagoon Pocket.

Also a great aerial picture Ian. Greetings Berend

Thanks Berend. The cloudy day made the scene one mottled by cloud shadows. But that adds to the artistic quality of the image, I thought, especially when I enlarge it.

Regards from the Mary Valley,
