Beautiful fountain! And what of the horses with fins, what the name of this mythological beast (I know only a mermaid :)?
LIKE and best regards from Siberia!
The fountain is a monument by Italian-born sculptor Pompeo Coppini to honor all University of Texas graduates killed in World War I. There is only scant mention of the web-footed horses. The fountain features Army and Navy soldiers on each side, with goddess Columbia in the center with the palm of peace and the torch of light and freedom. The memorial fountain is inscribed in Latin. The translation reads, "Short life hath been given by Nature unto man; but the remembrance of a life laid down in a good cause endureth forever."
I never knew the connection...Coppini did the John H. Reagan statue in Palestine TX earlier in his career.
Your HDR photos are so amazingly unusual, I love 'em... must be what the 1960's looked like when hippies were tripping on LSD.... :-))
