Thank you so much for your compliments! This is Greg Jr. who flew in about 9 years ago and has stayed on our lake ever since. He has a little band on his leg but we don't know from where he actually came. He is a wonderful boy who has fathered a duckling or two in his day and been a loving mate to many. Things just wouldn't be the same without Greg Jr. Many ducks have come and gone, but Greg Jr. Always remains!

I'm glad you stopped by and hope you have a wonderful day.

What a beautiful capture of a duck in flight, Mary Alice! Greg Jr. is a very handsome mallard. It's almost incredible he's been with you for 9 years! That's wonderful and I hope he'll stay for many more years to come. By the way, I also love ducks and if you like you can find them under the tag 'Ducks'. Greetings from Germany, Anne

This one is just awesome! Is it a take-off or a touchdown? Splendid work! Regards, Rafal

Rafal:

This was a touchdown! I'm so glad you like it! He's my favorite Mallard, Greg Jr. He's been around for years now and occasionally likes to show off a little! I think he enjoys having his picture made! :)

Thank you so much for your kind visit.

Greetings,

Mary Alice

Tlapp, on March 19, 2008, said:

Yep. It can't have been a take-off...firstly, the water is too still. secondly , the duck seems too be perfectly dry and thirdly, and apparently most importantly - the title sais so :)...I was too impressed by the photo to check the title. Regards, Rafal

MaryAlice, on March 19, 2008, said:

Rafal:

Your comment is making me laugh! :) It's okay that you didn't notice the title! I often skip people's titles too when I'm overwhelmed by the image. It makes me happy that you skipped it actually. :) It was a compliment!

Thank you again for your kindness and for making me smile!

Billy!

Why is your name Billy BARK? Do you like dogs, or do you actually bark?

Well, thank you for stopping by & visiting the duck! I appreciate your kind praise. :)

The wind was blowing causing the pretty ripples in the water. I liked it too!

Thanks again for stopping by, and good evening to you!

BARK! :)

Yes Mary Alice I do like dogs & I do bark now & then but Bark is also my family name so I’ve heard all the jokes!!

PS My bite is worse than my bark! ;)

MaryAlice, on April 5, 2008, said:

Billy!

I'm sorry! I bet you HAVE heard all the jokes. I thought it had some sort of different meaning other than your true last name! I wish it was MY last name, as I love dogs as well! :) It would be very appropriate for me! I even have a european car tag on the front of my Mini that reads "BORN2BARK". :)

Have a super great weekend, Billy B!

Mary Alice

Billy B@rk, on April 5, 2008, said:

It gets worse Mary Alice...I've always worked in the timber trade so you cam imagine the jokes about tree bark!

I like your car tag. :)

MaryAlice, on April 6, 2008, said:

Billy:

Oh dear! I can imagine that you have had an awful time with that! Still, it could be worse. If it wasn't so embarrassing, I'd share my horrible last name with you, but I think I'd rather just keep it to myself! At least I'm a girl and I can still get married one day and change all that. I suppose you're stuck with yours for life! :)

Hang in there! Like I said, it could be much worse! :)

You are very beautiful, Greg Jr, so much so that it makes up for your comical posture ;) Mary Alice, a wonderful 'catch!' I took about 15 shots of ducks 'in motion' last week and threw them all out... Greetings again from alicia, enjoying your ducks

MaryAlice, on April 21, said:

Alicia:

Are you making fun of poor Greg Jr? Shame on you! ;) He was flying proud. He loves to show off for the ladies, and does this little fly-by routine very often. Silly duck!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed the shot, and thank you very much for your happy visit.

Keep taking pictures of the flying ducks. You'll get one you like soon!

I hope you're enjoying your evening,

Mary Alice

aisavery, on April 22, said:

:D I wouldn't do that! I love him for making me laugh so. If it makes him feel better, tell him it's not just him, most ducks make me laugh - though I am partial to his feet and 'girth.' ;)

MaryAlice, on April 22, said:

Alicia:

He does have rather cute feet, doesn't he? You are quite observant to notice so much about him, and he is honored! ;)

You make me laugh! :)

Happy greeting to you tonight,

Mary Alice

aisavery, on April 23, said:

I'm glad that you laugh. But thank Greg Jr, he's the funny one (shhhhhhhhhhhhh)

MaryAlice, on April 25, said:

Greg Jr. said to tell you that he's very self-conscious about his girth now! ;)

Nawitka, on April 25, said:

He's a plump one, for sure! I think you are too kind, and feed him too much. He would be very embarrassed to know he looks more like a pigeon than a duck! Actually, he reminds of of those stout older fellows who still feel they look youthful and dashing in a tux, but instead have the shape of a brick wall.

MaryAlice, on April 25, said:

Nawitka:

You are hilarious! What a great sense of humor you have!

Thank you so much for the laughs at this very late hour. :)

You've made my evening.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend, and thanks again for your wonderful visit!

Greg Jr. Sends his respects!

Greg, the mighty mallard duck Is coming in to land, His vivid orange flipper tucked Within its' metal band.

His glossy bill is dished Upon his lovely velvet brow, And water droplets hiss Above the furrow which he ploughs.

Raking deep below the skin of Liquid, in perfection, His ruffled body, Mirrored and inverted by reflection....

Oh boy, I am having such fun! Hope you don't mind, I love writing little poems, but sometimes get stuck for inspiration. Not any more!

Kind regards, Sue

Oh my GOSH! I am completely blown away by your beautiful poetry! Good grief, I'm covered in chill bumps from head to toe! I cannot believe you spouted these off just like that ~ Right off the top of your head, but I know that you did because they're all about MY photographs.

I am SO honored! I can't tell you how much this means to me! I love them all. You are just amazing! What a gift you have. This is something very special, and I hope you realize it. Not just anyone can do something like this. You have a unique and very special talent. You're so completely observant and write with such detail.

They are beautiful, and again, I am so honored that you chose to write such wonderful words about my photos.

Thank you so very, very much. I am deeply moved.

With great respect,

Oh Mary Alice, you are such a darling xx You are most welcome. I have to get on with my housework this evening, much to my disgust, but I have been out for several days doing Eisteddfod stuff with the kids and it is all getting away from me a little! Never mind, I shall return and I am so looking forward to browsing through your photos late one night again. I have become accustomed to going to bed at about 1.30 or 2 am, to fit all my new interests in, without leaving anything else out, but it takes its toll, doesn't it?

Thank you so much to my new found friend. Sue

MaryAlice, on August 7, said:

Thank you to you as well, Sue! I feel the same way, and 2:00AM seems to be my normal bedtime these days as well.

Yes, it really DOES take it's toll on you. I'm going to try to take it on down a little early this evening because I have an appt out of town with the doggie tomorrow morning early. I need to be alert and attentive! =)

I'm looking forward to talking with you again very soon, and thank you so much for your kindness.

Hello, Mary Alice! I hope your 4-legged friend is in fine fettle? I am just trying out my new trick that TonyReid kindly taught me about links. I took a photo of a visitor to my place who would give your friend Greg jnr a real run for his money. With any luck, you just have to press here to see him! Kind regards, catch up with you soon, Sue

MaryAlice, on August 8, said:

Sue,

Tony must have done a great job of teaching you, because your little blue link worked just fine!!! I was taken right to your awesome bird shot, which, by the way, I had already commented on earlier! =) I LOVE it!

You are more advanced than me now, as I still have no idea how to attach a link, but I imagine it's harder than I care to learn. It's hard enough for me to make the writing dark, much less try to figure out links! I'll just have to hope people will venture this way on their own! ;)

Happy weekend to you, Sue!

Best regards,

Mary Alice

Sue Allen, on August 9, said:

Links are so easy to do, you will be able to do one. First of all, 'copy the Panoramio number of the photograph that you want to lead people to. I bet you already know how to do this, but in case you don't, you can 'right click' on the number which apears above your photo, then left click on 'copy'. Then you do the lead up piece of text, or the word 'here' or whatever inbetween square brackets, so for instance, you might put. "you might like to see my duck picture which is [here]. Then you would put a normal bracket sign ( and then right click your mouse in the next space and press 'paste'.

That will put your photo number in the space. Then you close the brackets, thus.... )

When you 'send' the comment, it turns into a link.

You can try it out on yourself, by doing a link from one ofyour pictures to another and checking whether it leads you there, so you don't need to worry about doing it wrong. My instructions are not crash hot. Maybe I should have copied and pasted Tony's instructions!

Go on, give it a go, the more people who get to see your lovely collection, the better!

I have to take one of the brood to a party now. It's alright for some, isn't it? Have a lovely day, Kind regards, sue

(Bye the way, I haven't learned to make the writing dark, as I looked at it and thought, "yikes, I think I'll forget that idea for now!")
