Mouries (berries) is the last Greek village near Lake Doiran, Kilkis, which is the natural border of the country with Skopje. Beside the lake, the landscape is amazing, with clumps of trees and the forest of Mouries (Thousand Trees) and meadows, the mountains of Beles beyond. At this area took place the battle of Doiran in 1913, during the 2nd Macedonian war (1912 - 1914). During the World War I, another battle took place, and in Beles was a border stronghold, where greek soldiers tried to stop the nazi' s entrance in Greece during the World War II.
