Blyth Harbour Mooring

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

My latest auction acquisition is a camera from around 1961, a Balda Super Matic (though the "Matic" bit isn't working).

Hello Keith :) It's been a long time since I was last here, too long!

Blythe, once a bustling port, is a shadow of its former self..Like many other ports on the East coast,(including Whitby) are sadly in a state of decline..There may be some hope of a mini revival from the ever burgeoning crop of wind farms that seem to be sprouting out of the North Sea, in large numbers. (A complete waste of time if you ask me) No doubt there will be vessels required and facilities to build, strip and service these ugly monoliths!

As for your photo, good perspective and interesting features, I like those tired old bollards! The ship in the background seems to be of interest.. It looks like an oceanic survey vessel!

All the best pal!

Cheers Jim! Blyth is becoming THE place for turbines as we test and build them here. Our new landmark to replace the power station is a massive wind turbine, just out of shot to the right (it features in one of my other photos). I quite like them, though I'm not convinced of their power generation value.
