Thanks for your nice comments!, most of the b/w non digital were all taken on a old nikon camera(nikkormat). The camera i think was center metered which helped the old effect. The pics themselves were shot in a way not to give the period away (b/w, high contrast, cars, people etc out of shot), using kodax t-max film with red filters, printed on hi grades in the darkroom. T-max always had a great range of greys and great blacks for high contrast stuff. a lovely film with nice grain!
Thanks! If you find a way to do this digitally, please let me know! It is a nice effect. There are some effects in Picasa , a freeware organizer/editor that gives similar results, but with less greys.
Hi Burkhard & Turbica, (apologies Burkard for missing your comment & the late reply!) It is a wonderful mystical place, well worth the visit if your in this part of Ireland. The main Island on the right rises over 700ft out of the sea & was inhabited only by monks & seabirds for centuries!

Splendid! I have one quite like it from my area, btw. I have enjoyed your b/w pics. What did you do to give them that old/used look?
