I suppose so Janina. But the day when I have seen then on the high sea between the coast and Zanzibar there had been very low winds. I found it amazing that they dared to sail that far away from the shore on such tiny boats.
Maybe the slenderness is an upside not disadvantage - the boat sails as a leaf on the water and it doesn't fall over :) but there is so little place for 3 persons .

I can imagine the speed of sailing - if you compare the surface of the sail with the slim and not heavy hull..
