Norsborg lighthouse takes off at 15:56 nov.24 2006

Sten, This picture is a fantastic historic document. I assume there has been a light here at the cape perhaps for the last one hundred years or so. You have depicted the end of an era of universal navigation. Where you prepared for the removal, or was it just pure luck that you were around for the event? Kind regards Staffan

I often pass by but it was pure luck I took this way.

The lighthouse was retired in 2004 due to vandalism and sceduled for demolition in 2005:

"Sverige. Mälaren och Södertälje kanal. V om Vårby. Norsborg. Fyr indragen. Utgår: Notis 2003:42/1469 (T) Se: Notis 2004:39/2163 Fyren Norsborg har under senare år varit utsatt för upprepad skadegörelse och har med anledning därav ej varit tillförlitlig. Sjöfartsverket har därför beslutat att ersätta fyren med en lysboj som placeras S om Fantholmen. Denna lysboj är nu utplacerad, se Ufs 2004:39/2163. Fyrbyggnaden kommer att rivas under år 2005."
