Veliko Gradište is located on the river Danube, 114 kilometers downstream from Belgrade. Town has a dock for all ships coming by the Danube from the Black Sea ports towards central Europe. By Veliko Gradiste river Pek is drained into Danube. In part of its course through the Gradiste, the Danube reaches the width up to 2,000 meters and is rightly considered the "Danube sea". Various facilities along the river are the most interesting for the visitors. Golubac is on the Danube River, but its appearance is very reminiscent of the coastal city. No wonder, because the Danube here is almost about six kilometers wide. It is located on Highway Belgrade - Kladovo and is located about 130 kilometers from the capital. It is best known for its fort - Golubac city, located on the inaccessible cliffs of the Danube. It was built in the 14th century in order to control river trips, but also the hinterland, and its governor was Stefan Lazarevic. There are nine towers, of which the largest is located at the highest elevation. Golubac's fortress is protected and declared to be cultural heritage of great importance. From this location starts National Park "Djerdap" and nature reserve "Golubac city" with distinctive lilac formations, eastern hornbeam, ash, oak and beech, and a diverse fauna. Golubac is very interesting for tourists throughout the whole year.
