Lincoln Cathedral II

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Taken on the wall of Lincoln Castle...This is Lincoln Cathedral the seat of the Bishop of Lincoln in the Church of England. Building commenced in 1088 and continued in several phases throughout the medieval period. It was reputedly the tallest building in the world for 238 years (1311–1549). The central spire collapsed in 1549 and was not rebuilt. The bishop of Lincoln, Hugh of Wells, was one of the signatories to the Magna Carta and for hundreds of years the cathedral held one of the four remaining copies of the original, now securely displayed in Lincoln Castle. There are three other surviving copies; two at the British Library and one at Salisbury Cathedral...

Lovely long shadows, nice detail and sharp depiction from a great viewpoint. Enjoyed the information you gave with it also, - I hadn't realized that one of the Magna Carta's is kept in the castle! Best of luck in the competition Lee, -David.
