St Chad's ~ Shrewsbury

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

I have just returned from a wonderful 3 day stay in Shrewsbury, specifically for the 'A Christmas Carol' guided tour, but until I able to map my pictures I thought this would be a good one to upload as it was near me and my daughters B&B and a beautiful place. Also, I was lucky enough to meet up with a Panoramio friend for a coffee and chat...hi Amelia...We recognised each other straight away :-) St Chads Church.

Lovely tower Rosa not too ornate but a really nice design. Hope you enjoyed your stay and your meeting with a pano pal. I've just one question are bikes getting smaller or the riders getting larger? The saying a pea on a drum springs to mind.

Yes, back home safe and sound thank you. I need a rest now after all that walking :-)

Thanks Ian, we could see the tower from our B&B. Meeting up with Amelia was like we had known each other for years! As for the bike rider...a little of both I think! I hadn't noticed until you said ;o)

Was it really so sunny in town? I am so busy shopping for Christmas, and unpacking boxes that I didn't notice. ;-)

Yes it seems as if we have known each other for many years indeed! Sometimes new friendships are like that. :)))

St.Chads makes a bit of extra money from car parking fees. I park at Coton Hill for nothing and walk in to town. Typical Scot!

Warm hugs, Amelia

We had a great time, the tour was excellent. You wait 'til you see where we'll love it! Also, we had dinner at The Lion, where Charles Dickens stayed when he was performing at the nearby misic hall in Shrewsbury.

Good morning Amelia, yes the weather was being very kind to us on Sunday! We were lucky enough to find a parking space just outside the park gates over the road from St John's Hill. We didn't leave until 5pm but a really good run back home. Take it easy and don't spend too much ;-))

All the best, Rosa & Michelle.

PS. I have seen your lovely picture of St Chad's. I am going to try and look through your local ones properly in a day or two. Cheers ;-D

Hello Rosa,

Thanks for the info and the link. I thought at first that it might be a Wren or a Hawksmoor church but as the links make no reference to this, the architect must have a lesser bod!

Nice shot. Like

Best wishes,

patano ~ Thank you very much. Greetings, Rosa.

Leif Fielstrup Guldb… ~ Thank you Leif. Our first day there was heavy rain so this was a welcomed bright day! Greetings, Rosa.

Andy Rodker ~ Hello Andy, I am told there was some controversy with the design. The architect was George Steuart. I think the interior is stunning. Thanks for your comments. Best wishes, Rosa.

Thanasis Germanos ~ Thank you Thanasis. I wish you and your family a very Happy Christmas too. Best regards, Rosa.

♰ Linrich ♰ ~ Amelia tells me that the church benefits from the parking fees, but yes, the cars do spoil it...I should have got up earlier before the service to take it :-) All the best, Rosa.

~Marlene~ ~ Thank you Marlene. I was lucky to have the blue sky. Best regards, Rosa.
