Number of windy days on Mosor Mountin (1339 m) is 130 per year, counting only those who are above the
speed of 60 km/h. Snow hits in March are not uncommon and the wind can be unusually strong for more than
Mosor peak ridge extends 25 km NW-SE through the hinterland area between Split and Omiš. Concerning that
the mountain has several sources of drinking water as that on its western slopes are the sources of two rivers,
Jadro and Žrnovnica, it is conceivable interpretation of the mountain's name. Namely, it is believed that the
name Mosor derives from compound word Molsor ("mol"=hill, mountain; "sor"=source) as the lost Illyrian
language reveals: Hill/mountain-source, or: Mo(l)sor.
