Palacio Cantero -1828, Trinidad Cuba

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Palacio Cantero, The mansion originally built in 1828 by one of the richest men in Cuba, Don Pedro Jose Iznaga Borrell, it belonged to the Borrel family and was later owned by Cantero, who married, probably for money, Borrels daughter.

Today is Municipal Museum. It features a spacious entrance hall that opens on to a sunny & large galleried courtyard.

Original frescoes survive on the plasterwork of the main hall. Palacio Cantero has Italian marble floors and large open rooms. The antique furnishing originate mostly from Spain, Italy, Germany, France and Austria.

Mansion Iznaga tower is accessible from the courtyard, gives wonderful panoramic views over the Colonial Trinidad, mountains and the sea.

If your health & constitution allows you, I highly recommend the climb to the top of the tower!
