Mt. Augustus**The biggest Rock on Earth WA

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

You might think the Ayres Rock (ULURU) is the biggest Rock in Australia, but it is not. In fact, the biggest Rock in the World sits right in the golden Outback of Western Australia and it is named Mt. Augustus. Mt. Augustus is two and a half time bigger than the more popular Uluru and covers an area of 4800 hectares. While the Uluru is a monolith, the Mt. Augustus is a monocline and rises 717Mtr above the surrounding sand plains, sitting on granite believed a 1650 million years old.* To read more, go to our Website** To go there we choose the KINGSFORD SMITH MAIL RUN ROUTE, which we started in Meekatherra and goes to Carnarvon.

Ebi; did not know this, awesome, love the landscape; you are so lucky to experience all this beauty first hand. It has to be viewed in all its grandeur. Good luck with the contest. Like Trin.

Daryl** less known, less people. By counting the cars we encountered on the gravel, I think it was five or six on the 344 KM. Regards Ebi

Well there is something I just learnt today. Always thought Ayers Rock was. Lucky I wasn't going for the million dollar question. I would have failed and got a grand instead. Nice photo Ebi. cheers from Hobart - Gary
