Trinidad transportation, One of many special taxis (Moskwich 2140 SL- 1983 to 1988)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Trinidad transportation consist mostly of bicycles, horse drawn carts, vintage american cars and few relics from soviet auto industry.

After one evening in town, we took a taxi to the hotel (12 km). The rates are relatively uniform, so we accepted an offer for a ride, without seeing the actual taxi. It turned up to be a white Moskwitch.

The car started rather noisily, as we started to roll. Soon the cabin was filled with exhaust fumes. Holding our breath, with all windows open, we survived the 15 minutes ride. The driver was happy to get paid and apologetic for the car condition.

All you can do in this situation is to smile!

• La Libra: "Free" markets are government stands, often outside of the ration stores, which sell rather cheaply produce & overstock of products, not included in libreta ration cards.

Very good picture, I like it!! I visited Trinidad 7 years ago. Everything was amazing there: streets, cars, people... A nice place!! Best wishes from Spain.
