Hello World 2013 ... my name is Java !

Not selected for Google Earth or Google Maps [?]

nicknamed this white-tailed deer fawn Java - not because he is coffee colored , but because I got to take his picture while finishing the last of my morning coffee - it was an arduous journey fraught with danger to get this image - a trek of at least 20 feet from the coffee maker to where I had the tripod set up in the back door of the garage - my heart and head were pounding ( courtesy of a New Year's Eve hangover ) , yet I persevered and " Got the Shot " !!! Gotta love nature / wildlife and what it does for the soul !

I only now read your comment. I am glad you persevered, and I hope you´ll have lots more visits of Java.

Hello again Eva - " Java " is a kindred spirit that I knew a year before he was born - it's a long , tear filled story that I won't delve into - I call it the " Curse of the Telephoto Lense " - the magnification and capture is wonderful in a sense , but one has a tendency to aquire emotional attachments to wildlife captured up close and personal ... Mother Nature produces wonderful creations , but she can be cruel at times ...

Wonderful detail. I am enjoying the view of your snowy back yard reflecting in Java's eyes.

Java says Hi ! kenfowkes - he is in your backyard right now - it's all part of that cycle of life / in the spring becomes the rose thing - everything is connected - it's up to us to record it !

Eva Lewitus on January 2, 2013

You make me really curious. What is the tear filled story?
How can there be a telephoto curse? I curse that my tele isn´t strong enough!

Scorched Earth Photo… on January 2, 2013

Didn't need a telephoto lens to get up close and personal on the sad story Eva - someday I will post some images that have special meaning to me and close friends / neighbors , but for now it must remain a mystery since the tears still flow after a year ago ... Hope and new life spring eternal , and everything is connected !

I dont no to many people that can sit back in there chair with a hot coffee turn on a bit of pink floyd and then take a great shot like this, you lucky bugger!

Itallica on January 2, 2013

beer then coffee

no New years resolutions then?

Scorched Earth Photo… on January 3, 2013

The weather conditions were brutal Lloyd. B - sunny , fresh snow , and 11°F - but no Pink Floyd - I was wearing my fuzzy pink bunny slippers and bathrobe for the " photo extravaganza " !

None concerning beverages Tery - this year's resolution is to take more photos than last year which was about 13,000 give or take a few !

I'm gonna have to get a fresh chip to keep up with ya...Very nice work W....Ray

Scorched Earth Photo… on January 3, 2013

Java says Thank You Ray - statistically speaking , 100 % of the shots I don't take (n)ever turn out , and I usually delete 80% of the shots I do take - bought a second digital camera this past summer so I could leave one mounted on the telephoto rig , and have the other fitted with landscape / macro gear - got tired of changing lenses all the time . Quantity does not equate to quality , but it does improve the odds !
