Jezero Modrac, Lukavac, BiH

Modrac lake created in 1964 by building a dam on the river Spreča in Modrac, municipality Lukavac, to supply industrial plants in Tuzla and in Zivinice with water. This is one of the largest reservoirs in the former Yugoslavia, in which the flow rivers Spreča and Turija. Covers about 17 square kilometers, the maximum depth is about 20 m, maximum width is about 1600 m, and it's length is 11 km. Modrac lake is a very great potential, not only for supplying industrial water to plants, but also for irrigation, then as a potential drinking water plant, an ideal place for the development of tourism, and the most important thing in the worlds - fishing. The entire length of the coast is accessible even during low water, the car can reach almost to any good places to fish on the lake. In the time of high water, it is necessary to cross the short distance on foot. Maximum depth of the lake in the middle stretch, where the old river bed Spreča and Turija and near the dam. The bottom is made of earth and stone, in one part of the coast below Kiseljak Tuzla and a good part of the coast near the village of Bokavići. The bottom of the lake is full of stumps, large stones and trees, houses and other submerged objects.
