A walk through Amsterdam on a dull wet December day can still have its delights. Here in the city centre, walking over one of the many canal bridges we see church spires on every turn.

Thank you for the walk around Amsterdam with you. L
Thanks a lot Eva, just found the name of this church. (The Oude Kerk.) It is in fact the oldest church in Amsterdam. Glad you liked it.
Happy 2013, Herb
otra imagen deliciosa!!!!
si que es agradable viajar de esta manera.
You made a visit to the city of my birth. A very familiar site this, well done. L
From Bruges to Copenhagen, a lovely trip.
Amsterdam looks so charming on your photos, Herb - like
Hello Herb. I suppose you found it with Google. Isn´t that an amazing help to find places? I use it the whole time when I am not sure where I took a photo. I usually find it!
Wonderful your Amsterdam serie my friend Herb.YS+LIKE.Best wishes,Stathis
Miketa, Paul,Ewa and Stathis, so happy you were able to walk with me down these streets of old Amsterdam. Looks like a great place to have been born in Paul! Like Paris and London, one never tires of strolling these streets. Yes, although we were following a written guided walk with the names of many of these churches, once home the walk was discarded and then I realised I did not know the names any more, (Eileen, my wife is better at remembering them) so as you say Eva, Google Earth/Images and Wiki then come into play:) Very happy you all like this. Special thanks for the great awards.
I like this view.
Finally I'm here to come and see you trip to Amsterdam (and more). The weather wasn't to kind for you.
Not much has changed here the last hundred years! Have a look at this picture from the beginning of 1900.
Hope you had a good time on your trip.
Kind regards, Erik
Nickolay, another very likeable comment from you. Cheers mate!
Erik, great to set foot in your homeland again. This, I now gather, is a classic scene of Old Amsterdam, a place that so fascinates me in history and photo. I have followed your link to Jacks Tol's photo and was delighted that so few things have changed there in over 100 years. His picture is fantastic. Only the modern bikes and old carts, barges and folk mark the difference. Many thanks. Yes, the trip was great in-spite of near constant English drizzle and flat lighting.
Best wishes for the New Year to you both, Herb

Lloret and Reiner, thanks for your comments and visits here. Yes, Amsterdam is a must to visit. Thanks for the likes.
Lovely shot of this well known part of Amsterdam Herb.
In 2011 I took this similar picture from almost the same point of view and afterward I also discovered this picture made in 1890 at also the same spot.
Although I also couldn't believe it first, the image from 1890 is really a afterwards colored photo. It comes out of a archive of a photograph institute in our country.
By the way and as already written in reply at one of your beautiful and much appreciated comments, I'm really honoured by the fact that you have added me to your favs.
Thanks and greetings,
Jack, once again you prove that we travel the same paths and see the same beauty in our eyes and minds. Yes, a wonderful spot in your beautiful capital. Your own is complimented by the painting too. I see that I spotted your photo and visited it in 2013 so you see what goes around, comes around!
FAV - my honour Jack, Herb
