the Cacapon river at browns run (looking downriver)

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

December 23, 2012: Sunday

Spending Christmas with family in the Berkeley Springs area, I took a chance to go scout a number of river put ins and take outs for the Cacapon. This river, one of the last really clean rivers in the east coast, is in my list of rivers to paddle. The scant mile and change or so that i paddle by coming up from its confluence with the Potomac promises great things.

Hopefully come March, with the longer days and moderating temperatures I will be able to tackle more parts of this river. I would very much like to rise awareness to keep this watershed pristine now, and in the future.

REMEMBER, rivers, lakes and the sea are everyone's responsabilities. Care for them, care for your watershed, and dont let short sighted economic interest ruin them for you and your descendants. Humanity has lived with out electricity and industry for many thousands of years, but it has never lived with out fresh water.
