I cannot believe these house are in Svalbard, where is the ice and snow? What do they use for heating? and what do they eat and drink?
From Beryl Sydney Australia
I took this during the short summer when there is no snow in the village.
I think they eat spagetti Bolognese and ice cream just like everyone else :-).
Most people work with mining, research or tourism I think. And many leave during the winter which is very cold and dark.
A very exotic place to visit!
As beautiful as doll houses, greetings from Greece, Marina
Good photographer eye! Good picture David!
I'm enchanted by Svalbard...Life in such extremes is amazing. I would love to visit.
Hello from Ohio, USA by the way...=P
Dear David again:
I agree with all here, it is wonderful to see Spetsbergen (or Svalbard) like this. Have never been there.
Greatings a lot dear, and thankyou for your good eye to the art of photographing in all your work!
Anunds of Sweden.

Really nice photo David!
hærlig bilde! Man skulle tro at det var kaldt og trist på Svalbard, men dette bilde viser no annet! :)
Very gorgeous! I wish to move here some day. I apologize I cannot give a comment in Norwegian; I have yet to learn.
Waww mozaik gibi renkler.
And somehow the houses fit in the picture against the background of the hill behind them. Good photo.
Read an article about this place in Canada's Reader's Digest. Very interesting!
Be careful of those polar bears! :)
A great pic
