Pasteleria Escriba, Barcelona Historic patisserie and cafe on La Rambla, Barcelona. Located in a beautifully adorned building called "Antigua Casa Figueras" on La Rambla, with small outdoor terrace. The building was originally a pasta factory and was re-decorated by architect Antoni Ros i Güell in 1902. Escriba was established in 1906 as a bakery on the street Gran Via 546 and became one of the loved bakeries in town and is still open. In 1986 Antoni Escribà i Serra opened the cake shop on La Rambla and pioneered the art of chocolate figurines and creations, especially for Easter. He was described as the Mozart of Chocolate, but sadly passed away in 2004. The traditions of the Pasteleria Escriba remain in the family hands and is worth a visit if you want to sweeten your day.
