"Boat in Red"

The palafitic pier of Carrasqueira is born in the '50s, when it developed the culture of oysters in the river Sado and the fishermen needed access to water that did not depend on the tides. Two fishermen have the idea of bury wooden stakes in the mud and put some boards on top, anchoring their boats each one on their side ... It worked! The other fishermen then joined two by two, extending the tangle of stakes for hundreds of meters, resulting in this spectacular example of popular architecture.
