Authentic Pasties

He is preparing pasties, a meat and vegetable (probably potato or turnip, I did not get the recipe) filled "D" shaped pastry, which is then baked. It was a hot day to have the big fire, but that was how it was done in the early 17th century. This was taken in the cookhouse in the reconstructed fort at Jamestown Settlement, a museum and living history park operated by the State of Virginia near the site of the original first permanent English settlement in North America; or as we Virginians like remind folks - It was all Virginia once!

It is a wonderful photo Mark, but the theme of NPC is about some historical place, not historical man or job ;)

Please, change the photo.

Thank you, mario.
