Beautiful picture LIKE + Fav! Many greetings from Italy, Valerio
Hi dear Ian,
A lot of skyscraper...
I like the interesting frame.
Kangaroo Point is a good spot to make pictures of the centre of Brisbane Ian. The ships lays like nothing happened during the storms and floods. LIKE the composition! Greetings Berend
Thank you Valerio - and welcome to my gallery. I am very pleased that you have added a photo of Brisbane to your favourites collection. It is an attractive city.
Greetings from Australia,
Brisbane and Istanbul have very different skylines, to say the least. And very different histories!! I am sure that each of us would find each other's cities fascinating places to explore. One day, maybe.
With loving greetings,
You are right about this vantage point, Berend. It is a bit like a magnet to my camera. And as for the apparent normality, it is good that a city can live beyond such events. But the city has just been remembering the floods for now is the 2nd anniversary of the event. Inquiries have been held, authorities exonerated, and insurance companies have been pressured to modify their practices and major companies have done so, at least, and local authorities are changing building requirements.
In the suburbs further upstream where many homes were flooded, those homeowners who can afford to do so are making significant adjustments. Homes are being raised by several metres in some cases, and look very peculiar. The traditional "Queenslander" architectural style was a house on high stumps, the floor being about 2M off the ground, but in the floodable areas some of them have their floors 5M from the ground now!
Greetings from Queensland,
Ian,the river is still a brown colour,is it still from the flooding? Nice shot..Cheers Brian.
Hi Ianfrom the Group A1-Unique Australia. Natural framed and excellent composed photo L
Just a bit late with my uploading, Brian. This is the result of a minor flood in the river - not one of the big ones you have heard about. We have just remembered the flood of 2011, because of the 2nd anniversary of that event.
. btw. Dredging used to stir up the colour, but that has ceased from the river upstream of here.
You are a great encourager, Ebi! Thanks.
Awesome photo! Excellent composition! LIKE. Greetings from Coimbra, Portugal. António
