Thanks again everyone!

kingkorn - search for "Horsetail Falls sunset" and you will find many photos of this waterfall with similar lighting. It is truly amazing to see in person.

JRunegrund - Look closely at the winning photos and their comments. The winner is determined by who spends the most time trading visits and votes with the most other Panoramio users. ATP is sponsoring a popularity contest on Panoramio, not a photo contest based on image quality.

Yeah i figure it was some sort of spam system for this site... It would be better if there was, some people with fair enough skill that would point out the winner. And ofcourse overlooking popularity aswell. I seen some people spam about there pictures here at panoramio, it's ugly! What if everyone does that, it would be sutch a mess!

Amazing, at first glance I thought that there was a lava flow emerging from the rock! This is one of the most interesting photos that I have ever seen

I thought the water was lava too at first! Very nice. A little mind-boggling. I find the photo tricking my eyes as to which direction the light is coming from. :-D

Simply stunning Jeff! At first it looked like lava flowing down the mountain, must have been an amazing sight!

Cheers, Tomas

Thanks again everyone!

This event looked like a lava flow in person as well! We nicknamed the rock formation at the top "Lava Man" because it looks like someone climping up over the edge through molten lava.

If you'd like to take a shot like this, consider joining me in Yosemite Valley in late Feburary: Field Workshops. Last Winter I was lucky enough to catch the falls on two evenings from several different locations.
