BREATHTAKING

Hi Lucy, delighted you like this! This barren spot used to be the site of a railway halt called 'Derg Bridge' (imagine waiting here on a stormy night!) at the entrance of the beautiful Barnsmore Gap in Donegal.

Merry Christmas from West Cork! h

i just luked through your gallery every picture makes me want to pick up a camera. i love how u seem to bring the landscape and landmarks to life. you seem to always say bout how beautiful the spots are but it still just because the landscape is beautiful doesnt mean the photos will be.

the stream where the camera is nearly in the water probably my favourite. but each has its own appeal. cant wait to see more of your pictures in the future

Hi pureirishidiot, Thanks for the wonderful compliment, It's great if the pictures make people pick up a camera & do their thing! It's just really great to have a reason to get out into the open, we live in a country with erratic weather but great light & amazing skies above us. To be able to freeze that time/mood/place on film or in pixels still blows my mind!

I really like the mood in the pic you mentioned, it's a good example of how the digital age has made things easier, The shot was taken in Wicklow , most settings on auto & the camera nearly in the stream, but now with instant previews i could define the result quickly. Glad you like it!

Hopefully have some new posts towards the end of the week!

Warmest regards from Dublin h

Hey 2c, I know this bridge well and you certainly catch its character. The image could be from 1940. I like the fact that there is no hint that you were right next to the main road! Superb mood.

Hi Bdono, Thanks, delighted you like it! This is 'Derg bridge' at the north entrance to the beautiful Barnsmore gap, There used to be a railway halt this side of the bridge, but all has disappeared back to nature since the 'wee Donegal' closed in 1960. imagine waiting for a train here on a dark November night! It's a beautiful desolate spot. I took this one in between the showers, so i am delighted the mood has come through! Thanks for dropping by!

Warmest regards from Dublin h
