Hi Francine! Hope winter has been a little better in your part of the world!! Manitoba is just getting killed with cold and snow this year. Probably going to have another flood if things keep up. The answer is a lot of these "markers" have been erected because of the publicity and tourism so heavy equipment is responsible for many inuksuk's. There are many smaller ones that go back in time and were used mostly for navigation. Have a great day! Tim
