The 'Winnats pass'..... in medieval times was a gateway into the fortified village of ..'Castleton'../.. Now it is the only route out of the western end of the Hope Valley.../...Once thought to be a collapsed cavern - but now known to be formed from Carboniferous limestone – fossilised coral reef - laid down in a shallow sea some 280-300 million years ago...........beer was much cheaper at that time....Dj...

Cripes.... but thats not the Winnats I knew and loved David - you would need an ice axe to get up and down there by the looks of it.

Is that the wife you sent up ahead of ya?

Best wishes from the other David in North Carolina

Gotcha'......Carl....and....David.......
Yes the pass does appear most uncharacteristic here due to a grim day...and a fine dusting of the white stuff......Folks wonder how I get the wife up there....
I use a whip...!!
Cheers from the Uk.....Dj.
