Eggum at 11 pm, end of July, looking north west

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

Eggum is north of the arctic circle by a good margin, and facing north. Consequently this is a good place to see the midnight sun, or as here, se it setting and rising again within about an hour. The effect is on of mystical light on these barren and beatiful shores. This is the end of the road, literally speaking.

HI "Other", This was about 1 hour before midnight. It turned out this was a place where (wild) campers and people with tents would go, watch the setting sun and then the rising sun a couple of hours later. Sometimes the sea fog comes in from the north and makes for a mystique as the mountains around you and gradually all the landscape is enveloped in a soft woolen curtain of sheer nothing. Great place.
