Corfe Castle

Selected for Google Maps and Google Earth

The village is one of the most beautiful in England, fashioned out of Purbeck Stone and nestling under the dramatic ruins of Corfe Castle. The village is set out around a medieval common “the Halves” and is bounded by Corfe Common and the Purbeck Hills. The ruined Castle is one of the most loved in England and offers spectacular views. The National Trust has a yearlong programme of events from outdoor plays to medieval encampments and battles with Vikings.

Thank you Kasti for your comments,

There are some more pictures of this castle in my gallery, perhaps you were not aware that this castle was started by William the Conqueror in 1067, but it was never finished by him.

Kind regards. Gordon
