Anavyssos is a village in the south-east Attica, about 50 Km from Athens (about one hour by car) and 22 from Cape Sounion, located a short distance from the sea. Feature of the area is the location to which there were salinas. The region has significant residential development with a large number of holiday and permanent residences.

At this area there are traces of human presence since prehistoric times. In ancient times it was called Anaflystos and there are several references to it. At the time of the Asia Minor Catastrophe in 1922, moved there a great number of refugees (114 families reported) from Asia Minor who worked the salt marshes and agriculture.
