The pier is used for daily commuting ferries between two sides of the Bosphorus and to and from the historic centre (Eminonu, Sirkeci and Karakoy). This particular one seems to have been kept almost unaltered and the area [Kanlica] was [and probably still is] popular with day visitors for quiet and relaxing time in open gardens and indoor tea/coffee and yogurt cafes.
